I'd also highly recommend Anne Lamott's <i>Operating Instructions</i>, the best nonfiction account of parenting ever ("I thought it would be more like getting a cat"). The Girlfriends’ Guide to Pregnancy was a fun read — light, quick, but good for covering the basics before you wade into some of the heftier tomes like What to Expect When You’re Expecting or any of the Sears & Sears stuff.
